Quick Q & A

Want to get the lowdown on the
Lavender Genus Grad Program?
You've come to the right place.

It's a Graduate Program run by independent CX agency Lavender. Each year we bring on board a small number of recent grads, who we place in roles to suit their specific skills, strengths and aspirations. There's no one type of Genus Grad – the program suits creative souls and technical geniuses, but it's also perfect for smart strategic thinkers who want to work in a dynamic creative environment. If you've recently finished your studies, it could be the perfect way to kick start your career with an agency as dynamic as you are.
If you're entitled to work in Australia and have graduated with a university degree in the last 2 years, we'd love to hear from you. Because our agency has several different parts (consulting, data, creative, technology and delivery), we're not looking for a specific qualification or degree – Genus Grads are placed in whatever role will suit them best. You might have studied marketing, communications, business or something tech-related. Whatever the case, if you're keen to work with us, you're welcome to apply. At the end of the day we choose our grads much more on their attitude and personality than formal creds.
As a Genus Grad you'll be placed in a role to suit your strengths, skills and aspirations. Our agency has five 'pillars': consulting, data, creative, technology and delivery – so there are loads of opportunities. The day-to-day duties you'll be carrying out will depend on the role you end up in, but could involve:
  • Unleashing your creative talents as a copywriter, designer or arty type
  • Nurturing a project from fledgling idea to unstoppable campaign
  • Creating apps, websites and other digital goodness
  • Working 'behind the scenes' with hard-core technology
  • Analysing data to unearth insights into how people think and behave
There's a 6-month probation period for Genus Grads to make sure the program is working for you and us. After that, we'll want to hang on to you as long as you're bringing your special something-something to the party.
Kind of, but it's better. Like an intern, you'll gain exposure across all different parts of the industry – from marketing to technology. But unlike an intern, you'll be a fully-fledged, full-time staff member with your own desk, designated clients, responsibilities (and salary). You'll also be responsible for a range of duties depending on the role you're working in. Whether you end up as a fledgling designer or a junior digital producer, it's just the same as a "real job".
Lavender is an independent CX agency, which means we specialise in customer experience. Once upon a time this revolved around marketing and advertising, but as the world around us evolved, Lavender has too. Now our agency has five parts (or 'pillars'): consulting, data, creative, technology and delivery. This means we can help clients connect with customers in a whole range of ways – from smart systems integration to creative campaigns, schmick websites and clever apps. But no matter what the project may be, our approach is always the same: to keep the consumer at the heart of everything we do. Keen to learn more about us? Visit our website.
As a CX agency, we specialise in customer experience. These days, this covers a whole host of interactions – from smart phone apps and websites, to intuitive systems and targeted emails. With our integrated skills, our team is able to solve all sorts of problems, whether it's keeping customers loyal, or selling a hot new product. Far from being old-school, we're interested in fresh ideas, new trends and technology that hasn't even been invented yet. That said, our greatest passion is the customer – so whether we're dreaming up an app or inventing hi-tech sneakers, our goal is always to find ways of making it relevant to people around us.
At Lavender, we have a culture that embraces the individual (whatever that may be!). We like authentic people who are bursting with character, quirks, ambition and bright ideas. We're also driven by a very specific set of values, which you can check out on our website. If you're keen to work with us, this is the most important thing you can read, as it'll give you a sense of how we tick (and whether it appeals to you).
Um, yeah!! We don't stand for Don Draper style egos here. We're warm, welcoming and we always make an extra special effort with new kids on the block.
Genus is a term that describes a particular order or group of species – and at Lavender that's exactly how we see our grads. Just like everyone at Lavender, our grads all have their own unique quirks and characteristics – but beneath the surface, we all share one important passion: the customer! We're proud to be our strange and kooky selves – it's what defines the Lavender species!
Lavender is home to all sorts. We're a weird and wonderful bunch – we're extroverts, introverts, nerds, hipsters, techno–gurus, free spirits, mother hens, party captains and beautiful freaks of nature. We want grads who can add their own individual colour to the mix. You don't need to have all the answers – you just have to be yourself, be passionate, have a good attitude and have lots of questions!
Absolutely. We know you have bills to pay just like the rest of us, so we make sure our grads are paid in line with industry standards.
